Over the last few months, a lot has happened in my world: the loss of my stable corporate job, enrolling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to begin my journey of becoming a certified health coach, suffering an injury that has forced me to take time off from my half marathon training…just to name a few. Amidst life’s curveballs, I have been fortunate enough to remain in a fairly constant state of peace through my yoga practice, however I found myself still searching for something that allowed me to take some time to really understand where it is that I want this next chapter in life to take me. Enter: meditation.
While I’ve been practicing yoga since college, my meditation practice has been infrequent and scattered. In the past, whenever I’d sit down with the intention of meditating, I’d close my eyes and my mind would instantly wander anywhere and everywhere and I didn’t know how to reign my thoughts back in, thus becoming frustrated and giving up. Over the last year or so, I’ve taken a couple meditation classes offered at my local yoga studio and have picked up different tips and tricks along the way…but when one of my favorite sites Mindbodygreen announced the were hosting at 14 day meditation challenge, I was ecstatic.
I’ll be documenting the challenge each day and hopefully sharing some insight into how you can enhance your current meditation practice or ways in which to start establishing one. Stay tuned!
